Reporting an error
Readers may report a factual error, broken source, incorrect calculation, privacy concern, misleading description, or outdated statement through the contact form. Select Correction and identify the page, disputed statement, and supporting information.
Review process
Reports are evaluated against the page’s sources, records, context, evidence label, and publication date. A disagreement with an opinion does not automatically require a correction, but new evidence may justify clarification or revision.
Types of changes
- Minor edit: spelling, grammar, formatting, or a change that does not alter meaning.
- Clarification: wording added to prevent a reasonable misunderstanding without reversing the underlying conclusion.
- Correction: a material factual statement, date, name, calculation, attribution, or description was wrong.
- Update: the original statement was accurate when published but circumstances later changed.
- Retraction or archive: a page is no longer supportable, safe, useful, or appropriate for normal discovery.
Transparency
Material corrections should be identified on the page or in revision information. Minor copy edits may be made silently. An old URL may redirect to a replacement when consolidation provides a clearer record.
Privacy and safety changes
Information may be removed or generalized without preserving the original wording when needed to protect private individuals, minors, account security, legal rights, or personal safety.
No payment for corrections
Corrections are based on accuracy and public value. Payment, sponsorship, threats, personal pressure, or a request to suppress fair criticism do not determine the outcome.
